Men's Dreilaender Indoor Cricket Tournament 2023

The Dreilaender Men's Indoor Cricket tournament was held in the huge gorgeous Halle Matte Magden on November 12th 2023. Four teams participated in this tournament.

1. Zurich Mavericks

2. Novartis Cricket Club

3. Roche Cricket Club

4. A1 Sports Club

All the teams played against each other with a round robin of three matches. After all the matches, below were the points table

Teams                    Played Won Lost Points NRR

Roche Cricket Club 3          3      0       12   2.04

Zurick Mavericks     3          1      2         4    0.65

Novartis Cricket Club 3       1      2        4    -0.93

A1 Sports Club          3         1      2        4   -1.90

After the league matches, Roche Cricket Club topped the table and qualified for the finals. All the other teams ended up with the same points. Super over was played between Zurick Mavericks, Novartis Cricket Club and A1 Sports Club which also resulted with each team winning one match. Finally, Net RunRate was used to rank the teams. The 3rd place match was played between Novartis Cricket Club and A1 Sports Club where A1 Sports Club bagged the 3rd prize. The final match was played between Roche Cricket Club and Zurick Mavericks.

In the finals, Ben Stokes' moment came where Roche needed just one wicket and Zurick Mavericks needed 4 runs. Unfortunately the ball hit the non striker's bat, got deflected and went to six. It was not intentional from the non striker and certainly six was awarded. Thats the beauty of this sport where there can be always one winner and one runner. Zurick Mavericks won the 2023rd edition of Dreilaender Men's Indoor Cricket Tournament and Roche Cricket Club were the runners.

Indian Association Basel and A1 Sports Club take this opportunity to thank the four teams who represented the 2023rd edition of Dreilaender Indoor Men's Cricket tournament and making it a successful one. It was a Diwali day and all the players made fireworks with the bat and ball inside the indoor hall.

Cheers,
